Tea Bag Biscuits

The perfect accompaniment to any brew?

A biscuit!

The perfect accompaniment to a Twinings Tea?

Why not try these cute little Tea Bag Biscuits we spotted on the Twinings website!

These tiny shortbread biscuits, dipped in chocolate are perfectly sized to fit on a saucer next to a cup and look charming.

We advise dipping them in your tea for a few second to turn the chocolate lovely and squidgy.

Ingredients:

  • 350 grams unsalted butter
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 525 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 200 grams of melted chocolate
  • Straw- to make holes
  • Thread/String (optional)

Pre heat the oven to 175 degrees C.

Into a bowl, mix the butter and sugar together and beat out the lumps, if you have a stick blender – it will be quicker and easier on the arms!

Add in your vanilla extract once all the buttery/sugary lumps have been blended smooth. Next add in your pinch of salt and the flour, sifting it in will make it easier to mix.

Mix on a low speed/pulse until the dough starts to knit together, once this is done pop the dough ball into the fridge and leave for 30 minutes.

To prepare you rolling space, dust the worktop or chopping board with flour and then grease a baking tray lightly.

For your teabag template, we recommend cutting a shape out of baking parchment, a square base with a peaked roof, like tiny house.

Once the dough is chilled, roll it out onto your work surface roughly ½ and inch thick. (Don’t forget to dust your rolling pin to avoid the dough sticking.)

Now for the fun part, carefully lay your teabag template onto the dough and cut round it with a sharp knife, lifting the small biscuits onto the baking tray.

One the tray is full (allow for minimal spreading whilst baking) it is time to carefully poke holes in the top with a straw, removing the little holes.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges start to brown.

Meanwhile melt the chocolate in a cup (microwave will be fine medium power) in 30 second intervals stirring occasionally to get rid of lumps.

Once your biscuits are baked and allowed to cool, dunk them half way into the melted chocolate and then place them onto a rack to cool.

If you have any thread, you can string the teabags and even add name tags as party favours should you wish.

Not only do these little Tea Bag Biscuits look the part, they taste amazing!

The perfect partner to a cup of Twinings Tea.
