Guy Fawkes Night originates from the infamous Gunpowder Plot of 1605, which failed and was then celebrated by way of lighting bonfires.
It’s been part of our British annual traditions since then, with friends, families and local communities getting together and lighting a large bonfire and setting off fireworks.
It’s the time of year where the daylight gets shorter, the nights get darker and colder, and Autumn is well underway. Coffee shops and bakeries are taking advantage of Halloween approaching, with themed drinks and treats to get people in the Halloween spirit.
As with a lot of things these days, Moon Milk is one of the latest trends spreading like wildfire across the internet world, photos of peoples mugs flooding Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.
Back for 2018, the tastiest week of the year is here, ready to fill your Monday to Friday with chocolatey-goodness. And we’ve got some new Chocolate-Coffee recipes for you to try out.
Black Forest Coffee
This drink doesn’t get its name from the Black Forest mountain range in south-western Germany, but from the speciality liquor of that region, known as “Schwarzwälder Kirsch(wasser)” and distilled from tart cherries.
It’s that time of year again: the supermarkets, shops and retailers are promoting their Christmas themed offerings in store, online and on TV. It’s a wonderful time of year where friends and family come together.
It’s unavoidable – Christmas is right around the corner, and we’ve brought back our fantastic Christmas Critter Cups to kick off the preparation season.
Last year these cups flew off the shelves at supersonic speed, we’re ready to take your order for the cutest Christmas cups in the world! Featuring some of the most adorable woodland creatures, we coined them our ‘Christmas Critters’ and they would love to meet your guests.
One of the biggest charity events in our own calendar, any chance to bake, make and take a few moments to enjoy a coffee is one that we do our utmost to savour.
If there is a company that is a bigger fan of a coffee morning than Caffe Society, we’d very much like to meet them!
As the world’s biggest fans of coffee mornings and huge fans of raising money for good causes, our celebration for MacMillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning has been nothing short of a BIG success!
MacMillan couldn’t pick a better time of year to raise both money and awareness, with the event coming just a few short days before the International Coffee Day, we’re hoping to help the charity ‘Change a Life with Every Slice’.
With some coffee or tea and a bit of cake we’re hoping to help support those afflicted and affected by cancer, including the families of those that are battling or have battled the disease.
We raised £134.30 last year and we’re hoping to reach a little higher this year!
The only downside to such exceptional baking and stuffing our faces with baked goods was the severe lack of room for a proper coffee!
Typically we are an ‘eyes bigger than our belly’ bunch, meaning we had a load of lovely sweet treats to take home, a superb amount of money raised and hopefully a goal to beat for next year!
Our total figure is not yet ‘totalised’, with more money expected in the coming days, but we think it could absolutely destroy our previous record by nearly double!
All the money we raised will, of course, go to help MacMillan provide their exceptional treatment to cancer sufferers across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom – some of which we are sure might be, or may have been our customers at one point in time – which pleases us to know just how it will help.

Presenting the Astoria Storm, a new and exciting cutting-edge coffee machine that combines classic features and minimalist design together in one package. Designed in conjunction with skilled baristas to produce a machine tuned to the movements and requirements and the barista’s need to operate the levers to adjust coffee according to the required taste.
This machine oozes character, with customisable wooden accents on the group handles, steam lever and support legs – available in various different wood types and stains to create a personality that fits with your business. Built-in LED lighting also provides optimal viewing of the coffee extraction process.
At the forefront is an innovative suspended drip tray, designed in such a way that it does not hide the cup from view during brewing, with the shapes and sizing created as such to allow easy cleaning.
The idea sounds like something lifted from a Science Fiction movie set in the future, but how would you like your coffee delivered to you by drone?
According to reports, tech megacorp IBM have developed a concept for a drone that is capable of dropping off a coffee by measuring certain facial, body and biometric data for when you need a caffeine (or decaffeinated) boost.
The company has filed paperwork with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with the technology described as: “Drone delivery of coffee based on a cognitive state of an individual.”
