Mouth cancer the effects of coffee
Cancer is something that scares the best of us and recently there has been discussion in the online coffee news about a recent study, which looked at the connection between coffee consumption and a serious form of mouth cancer.
What did the study disclose?
It was carried out by the American Cancer Society.
The conclusions indicate that the study had some favourable outcomes.
Those who drink over four cups of caffeinated coffee each day, have a much lower risk of deadly mouth cancers.
How much lower is the risk?
Roughly half those who only rarely or never drink coffee are twice as likely as these people to contract the disease.
So what is it in coffee that is so helpful?
It is though that some biologically active ingredients can help to prevent these cancers.
Coffee also has antioxidants and also polyphenols which are helpful.
This is a significant finding: the type of mouth cancer which is helped by coffee consumption is one of the top 10 common cancers worldwide.
As ever, more research should be done, but it is certainly good news in the meantime.
The popularity is growing significantly and so these findings are of great interest.
Many institutions carry out research into the effects of caffeine and coffee let’s hope more good news transpires soon.
It is not always the case that things that we enjoy eating and drinking are not good for us.
