Latte art taken to the next level

Have you heard of latte art?

It refers to the designs in the top of frothy latte.

You’re probably familiar with it, if you are a coffee-drinker, as many coffee shops will add their own motives and brand on coffee drinks when they present them to you.

Perhaps it is a simple design, such as a leaf, or a heart for instance.

However, a barista called Mike Breach has been in the coffee news of late.

Why?

Because it seems that he has taken the whole idea of coffee art to another level.

The business of serving coffee is becoming a serious one.

There are World Barista Championships to judge who is the best of the best in barista circles and the craftsmanship in preparing a decent cuppa is reaching dizzying heights.

So why is Breach in the news?

This New Yorker calls himself an ‘esspressionist,’ because he creates art in his lattes which exceed expectations.

In particular, he is making a name for himself for drawing famous portraits in his work.

These images are posted online and they are, it has to be said, convincing and realistic pictures of famous people, such as Albert Einstein and Britney Spears, Beyonce and Salvador Dali.

This talent was developed by Breach when he worked in a hotel kitchen and experimented with an unused espresso machine.

Would you like to get a coffee with your own image in the latte froth?

Or perhaps select a picture of your favourite celebrity to be added instead?
