Does coffee improve your mood?

Do you reckon you feel better after your caffeine fix?
Perhaps you enjoy the sensory taste of a decent cuppa (and our tastes are becoming increasingly sophisticated as far as coffee is concerned).
Perhaps you love the kick from a dose of caffeine to propel you into your day.
However, there has been an interesting podcast on ScientificAmerican.com, in so far as coffee’s effects are slightly more far reaching in this regard. Interested in hearing how coffee might be bringing a smile to your face?
A research project has been published in PLoS One, which details the study in question.
It transpires that those who have drunk coffee have an increased capability to recognise words which are connected with positive thoughts.
Conversely, the feel-good factor after coffee-drinking does not, according to this study, give drinkers a similar capacity, insofar as negative or neutral words are concerned.
The study assessed a group of sixty-six volunteers.
The group was split in two one group were given a 200mg caffeine dose, whereas the second group simply received a tablet of sugar.
Half an hour after taking the dose, the subjects were analysed.
It was noted that the caffeine drinkers were more speedy in noting positive words.
