Coffee lemonade is now a thing
The level of innovation in the coffee industry never ceases to amaze, some concoctions are crafted from the weirdest components, but we think we can get behind coffee lemonade.
Lemon has been added to coffee for a long time, the sharp citrus bite adds a little something extra to a cup.
But now the hipsters have gone one step further by adding lemon, vanilla and almond milk to cold brew coffee and labelled it the Almond Palmer…
Byran Hasho, of Stand Coffee in New York (where else could it be!) came up with the combination and was inspired by the Russian drink — kofyeh slimonem — which contains lemon.
It turns out that coffee lemonade has been around for while, with a version of the drink being offered in Swedish coffee shop, Da Matteo for years.
The Swedes referred to their iteration as ‘kaffelemonad’. As you can see below, it’s very similar, but not quite the same as Stand Coffee’s new kid on the block version.
So this combination is sort of nothing new.
But what does it actually taste like? Well, according to US based blog Insider, the first sip was expectantly refreshing and of course citrusy. But had a nasty nutty aftertaste.
Maybe their palette wasn’t quite up to it? Ardent and hardened coffee drinkers would probably be much more inclined to enjoy the taste, at least we think so…
We’re obsessing over iced coffee lemonade!!! What do you think about it? via @eater https://t.co/nd6HA2esgg pic.twitter.com/D3duzlcoN8

One problem noted was the the issue with the almond milk congealing if left to settle for too long, and therefore the drink required frequent stirring to counteract this.
If there is one thing we do know, it’s that a drink should never under any circumstances congeal. So maybe this is finally one step too far in the hipster world of coffee.
What do you think? Would you consider this cold brew connotation?
We recommend our Sweetbird Lemonade Syrup as an alternative to try offering with your coffee! Check it out!
