Chewable coffee – a retro-future caffeine fix
Is the traditional coffee in a cup under threat?
Chewable coffee is one of the latest crowd-funded efforts to make getting your caffeine fix that little bit ‘easier’ and more ‘convenient’.
After a successful IndieGogo campaign, Go Cubes, the chewy, gummy coffee in a cube format gained $61,000 to create a new form of our favourite drink.
“An entire cup of delicious & zippy cold-brew coffee packed into a convenient gummy bite!” states the Go Cube website.
The cost might put some people off, with six 4-packs costing around $15 (or £10.57) that works out at about 44p per cube, so not really that expensive considering the product.
We still aren’t entirely sure how a coffee gummy sweet will compare to a regular cup of coffee. But despite our preconceptions, we would very much like to try some!
The Go Cubes come in three flavours at present, with a latte, pure drip and mocha option available, we think that these are the most ‘sensible’ flavours to be ‘solidified’ at the very least!
Claiming to offer 50mg of caffeine per cube — approximately half a cup of coffee — we think that a chewy version of our favourite drink would be an awesome alternative to snacking on chocolate or other sugar-filled treats.
Not content with just offering a caffeine-coffee fix, Go Cubes are packed with supplements such as L-theanine, B6 and methylated B12 that are said to enhance not only the taste, but your focus after consuming.
One major benefit we can see is that you can just put a cup of coffee in your pocket. And with 2 cups of coffee in one packet, that is great if you like to travel light. Now that is some Blade Runner style cool retro-future coffee, and we think that it’s something we can get behind.
Maybe chewable coffee is not for everyone, we think we would still miss the experience of a nice warm brewed cup if we had to switch to chewable coffee full-time, but as a quick coffee fix we think this is a great idea!
The perfect gift choice for the coffee lover in your life!
But don’t take our word for it, let the creators themselves convince you that coffee in your pocket is the future:
