How can you make the most of your coffee break to give you the boost that you’ll need either physically or mentally?

Drink coffee before you nap

If your job allows you to take a mid-afternoon snooze then lucky you! Before you settle down to get fifteen minutes of shut-eye, have a cup of coffee.

It takes just seven minutes for your body to start absorbing caffeine and you begin to feel its effects not long afterwards. So by the time you awake from your brief slumber the caffeine you have just ingested will have started to kick in, giving you a dual boost.

All that paperwork will be tackled in double-quick time.

So drink coffee before you have a nap, not directly after!

Drink coffee after an important meeting

So you’ve just left an important meeting and your head is full of facts, figures, portfolios and plans. You should grab a coffee.

To cut a long, scientific process short, caffeine activates your sympathetic nervous system which in turn sends alerts to your brain and you begin to store information in a more efficient manner.

A US scientific study found that participants who had a dose of caffeine directly after being shown a series of images performed better in memory tests the next day.

So there you go, drink coffee to help you remember things.

Drink coffee before you go the gym

Scientific studies have shown that caffeine can improve both endurance and muscle strength. To maximise your workout drink a low-to-moderate amount of caffeine before you hit the treadmill and pump some iron. You’ll get a little pick-me-up which will allow you to train that little bit harder.

Anytime!

Because who doesn’t love coffee?

So there you have it, drink coffee before you have a nap or go to the gym and after an important meeting or revision session. (Or just drink it at anytime of the day!)
